Dolce Vita Gala Booties

My favorite color is black. So a majority of the shoes I will post will be black. I've been told countless times to expand my color scheme in my wardrobe....but I think black looks great on me...actually on everyone. Maybe I'll venture out of the dark side one day, but for now, I'll stick with what I like...which is all black everything....and a hint of gold or silver every once in awhile.

These released in the Fall of 2013. The moment I saw these booties, I had to have them. Here's the catch, they weren't in the budget. I know...I know...here I go with this budget again, but I'd be lying if I didn't tell you the real reason behind leaving these booties in the store and not taking them home with me. I must admit that they're quite simple but I still consider them to be hip, cool, and classy. The booties are a go to shoe for work and considering that I am on my feet all day I needed to make sure that I am comfortable as well. So I waited...and waited...and waited...until the dropped from a whopping $179.00 to $76.00. More than 50 % off!!!! (57.5% off roughly...but you get the point.)

So I went for it and I definitely think I know I made a good choice.

No Apple Bottom Jeans or Boots with Fur....but Embossed Leather Boots...Here I Come!

I'm a bit of a cornball, therefore the title of this post really does tickle me. Low by Flo-Rida was never really I song I would blast in my car, but I always did find it quite entertaining. Anyway, that's not the point of this post. I'm super excited about what Zara has to offer this season. Considering that I am always on a budget (seriously...I am), I tend to look for pieces that look "expensive"...whatever that means...but are also affordable. Now let's be clear, I am a stickler when it comes to quality. I only buy real leather boots because they last longer. So if I can't afford the real leather...then I just wait until I have enough to money to buy what I think will last.

Product Description: Zara Embossed Leather Boot
Price: $189.00
    UPPER
    100% COW LEATHER
    LINING
    100% POLYURETHANE
    SOLE
    100% POLYURETHANE THERMOPLASTIC
I will say that I'm not excited about the polyurethane line or sole....but I'll take what I can get. I also think that these could potentially go on sale sooner than later...so I'll implement some patience and wait just a little while.

Track Sole Obsession...

Alexander McQueen
Chunky Heel Biker Boots
$1,397.67 on Farfetch.com

These boots are everything to me. They are also cost more than I pay for rent a month. General rule of thumb...at least for me...don't purchase clothing or shoes that cost more than your rent. Therefore, those boots you see above aren't happening...it's just not realistic. However....I'm all about the spin-off version by Zara. I saw them and decided instantly that I had to have them. I usually don't wear heels because I can't walk in them, but surprisingly they're really comfortable! Plus, the spin offs are genuine leather...which is a plus for me. What do you think? Did Zara do a good job of recreating the Alexander McQueen Boots? I vote yes....but I may have a biased opinion because I've already purchased them.

Threads of the Day: Risto Chunky Cable Knit Turtleneck Sweater

Chunky Cable Knit Turtleneck Sweater
I'm obsessed with the Fall and Winter...solely for the fashion. I actually don't really enjoy cold weather, but I love the way cable knit sweaters keep you warm. Let me tell you right now...I can't actually afford this sweater, because it's currently $671.00...but a girl can dream right? I am actually looking for a substitute, but I just can't seem to find anything like it. The search continues....

Rose Colored Glasses...

Rose Colored Glasses was the debut album by country music artist John Conlee. I actually don't listen to country music very often. However, a portion of the title of this post is called rose colored glasses, so I decided that it would only be fitting to pay homage to the original artist who coined the term.

This post is actually about these AMAZING Birkenstocks that I just purchased from Nordstrom. I was originally one of the negative critics. I just didn't understand why Birkenstocks and their replicas were making a comeback. In my opinion, everyone was looking at the "slippers" through rose-colored glasses. They jumped on the bandwagon and thought the shoes were cooler than they actually were....but I was WRONG! I purchased these babies a week ago, and now I have decided to tell everyone about them.

Probably the most comfortable pair of shoes that I have ever owned in my life. If you know me, then you know that I am all about comfort. I wear heels because It goes will with my favorite LBD...but I usually don't enjoy the high-heel experience. I'm also into 'All Gold Everything'....specifically Rose Gold. So seeing a pair of rose gold Birkenstocks in person made my day...I couldn't resist. I plan to keep them forever...or at least until they fall apart completely.

The Change Up

So I've decided that we should just write about whatever we want. Now hear me out...

Originally I posted the blog with a solitary goal in mind. The goal was to help our readers find affordable outfits in their closet and at their local department stores, boutiques, etc. Style should always be affordable and every human being deserves the opportunity to look their best at all times.

I still believe that style should always be affordable. That will never change.

But we need more people...and that is just the truth. We don't have a clientele just yet and our readers need to increase in order to cater to their needs. So we can still find affordable pieces but we can also explore other options.

So why not write about things that are of interest to us? If you haven't noticed already...our subtitle changed. We are mathematicians and engineers during the day...and fearless fashionistas (at least that is what we think)  who love visual arts, literature, and music as well. It's time to share our other passions.

We've been told that we don't look like mathematicians or engineers, which is ludicrous because human beings are multifaceted and complex. So I'm not sure why we don't fit the mold. Needless to say, this blog will give us and our growing audience a chance to talk about things other than algorithms. Mathematicians and Engineers are fun too.

We hope you enjoy what we enjoy.

Shoe of the Day: ZARA Leather Sandals with Fringes

Image 1 of LEATHER SANDALS WITH FRINGES from Zara
Currently $99.00 at Zara.com
I love block heels. Although I prefer my heels to be at least 3.5 inches...I'm not opposed to rocking these. The fringes are the bomb (yes..I still say the bomb) and I love the crocodile print detailing. These are a win in my book.

Oxfords...It's Become an Obsession

OXFORDS...My latest shoe obsession....

I'm obsessed with oxfords...and I'm no longer concerned about about fixing my "problem". I wear them everywhere...to work, to the grocery store, dinner dates, even night clubs (I care not). I like being comfortable and I don't want to sacrifice being comfortable for fashion...it's just not going to work for me at this time.
At first I thought I should get help...but all I really need help with is finding more of them. I'm a sale stalker and I'm on a budget so I've limited the amount of money I choose to spend on oxfords...but I can't help the way I feel...and I might just need to splurge soon. So here are a few of the oxfords I've been eyeing recently....if you want to send me a pair...I'll gladly except them.

 The Loeffler Randall Beatriz Oxford
Loeffler Randall® Beatriz Oxfords
Currently $199.99 at Madewell.com

The Ted Baker London Kape2 Oxford (Grey Leopard Pony)
Currently $102.48 at 6pm.com

The Sam Edelman Jerome Oxford ( Metallic Silver)
Jerome - Soft Silver main view
Currently $69.99 at 6pm.com

The Matt Bernson 'Gimlet' Perforated Oxford
Currently $197.95 at Nordstrom.com

The Prada Oxford Flat
Currently a whopping $590.00 at Nordstrom.com
I definitely can't afford these...but a girl can dream right?

I must confess, not only do I have an obsession with oxfords, but I'm just obsessed with shoes. I find it difficult to find clothing items that fit well so I've resorted to hunting for great deals on shoes because I'm rarely disappointed in how the shoe fits. With that being said, I'll be posting a shoe of the day periodically. I'll post everything from sky high heels (even though I don't wear them much) to the latest pair of exclusive sneakers (yes, I still wear sneakers...and I'm not ever going to be ashamed). Stay tuned.

The Dressing room is one of my favorite places...

It's been awhile but I wanted to share some great finds in TJ.  I pride myself in being a maxinista.

Overalls have been trending over the past but it's never too late to add a print.  These overalls add a nice touch of color and flair to the farmer Doug influenced style.

I warned you about the hunt for shorts.  Well...

I love a good crop too and this little sweater number is perfection.  The printed shorts make a great accent to the blacked out top.

*fitting room tip: If you see a piece you think would be a great addition to your closet, find something else, similar to an item you own (or not if you feel like balling out) to try it on with.  This will give you a better feel for the role this (or these) new item(s) will play in your wardrobe.

Overalls: $14.99
Crop top sweater: $11.99
Printed shorts: $15.99
