I'm A Good Girl With Tattoos

I'd like to begin with the following quote from Alex Bell...

"Believe it or not, some of us have piercings and tattoos and dye our hair because we think it looks pretty, not for any deep sociological reason. This isn't an act of protest against cultural or social repression. It's not a grand, deliberately defiant gesture against capitalists or feminists or any other social group. It's not even the fashion equivalent to sticking two fingers up at the world. The boring truth of it, Gabriel, is that I don't dress like this to hurt my parents or draw attention to myself or make a statement. I just do it because I think it looks nice. Disappointed?”
― Alex BellThe Ninth Circle

I love tattoos...and I'm quite unapologetic about it.

Alex Bell really sums up my thoughts in a clear and concise manner. Some of my tattoos have a deeper meaning...and some do not. I don't really think there is anything wrong with my choice in body art. I have always wondered why people get so upset with other people's personal decisions, especially if they do not cause harm to anyone else. If you don't like the way something looks...you probably shouldn't get it or buy it. There are so many other things to be concerned about that are more important than someone's piercings or body art.

Even though I am coming to the end of my tattoo phase, I am still an enthusiast and still am easily excited when I see dope tattoos.

My Superhero Sneakers

If I could ever be a superhero, I would wear Nike's Women’s Air Max Huarache ‘Bronzine’ ...

So instead of purchasing a pair of wheat colored Timberland's, I decided to troll the internet for these instead. I'm so happy that I did because Timberland's do not look good on me at all. I've always wanted a pair since it's return to the fashion community...but a part of growing up is excepting what works for you...and what does not...and Timberland's just aren't for me. Soooooo...instead I got these babies...the huaraches are beautiful. Rich hue and tone, quality material, and extremely comfortable. I don't wear heels often because...you guessed it....they hurt my feet. So I get super excited about sneakers...and I can wear them to work on Casual Fridays!

Dolce Vita Gala Booties

My favorite color is black. So a majority of the shoes I will post will be black. I've been told countless times to expand my color scheme in my wardrobe....but I think black looks great on me...actually on everyone. Maybe I'll venture out of the dark side one day, but for now, I'll stick with what I like...which is all black everything....and a hint of gold or silver every once in awhile.

These released in the Fall of 2013. The moment I saw these booties, I had to have them. Here's the catch, they weren't in the budget. I know...I know...here I go with this budget again, but I'd be lying if I didn't tell you the real reason behind leaving these booties in the store and not taking them home with me. I must admit that they're quite simple but I still consider them to be hip, cool, and classy. The booties are a go to shoe for work and considering that I am on my feet all day I needed to make sure that I am comfortable as well. So I waited...and waited...and waited...until the dropped from a whopping $179.00 to $76.00. More than 50 % off!!!! (57.5% off roughly...but you get the point.)

So I went for it and I definitely think I know I made a good choice.

No Apple Bottom Jeans or Boots with Fur....but Embossed Leather Boots...Here I Come!

I'm a bit of a cornball, therefore the title of this post really does tickle me. Low by Flo-Rida was never really I song I would blast in my car, but I always did find it quite entertaining. Anyway, that's not the point of this post. I'm super excited about what Zara has to offer this season. Considering that I am always on a budget (seriously...I am), I tend to look for pieces that look "expensive"...whatever that means...but are also affordable. Now let's be clear, I am a stickler when it comes to quality. I only buy real leather boots because they last longer. So if I can't afford the real leather...then I just wait until I have enough to money to buy what I think will last.

I will say that I'm not excited about the polyurethane line or sole....but I'll take what I can get. I also think that these could potentially go on sale sooner than later...so I'll implement some patience and wait just a little while.

Track Sole Obsession...

Alexander McQueen
Chunky Heel Biker Boots
$1,397.67 on Farfetch.com

These boots are everything to me. They are also cost more than I pay for rent a month. General rule of thumb...at least for me...don't purchase clothing or shoes that cost more than your rent. Therefore, those boots you see above aren't happening...it's just not realistic. However....I'm all about the spin-off version by Zara. I saw them and decided instantly that I had to have them. I usually don't wear heels because I can't walk in them, but surprisingly they're really comfortable! Plus, the spin offs are genuine leather...which is a plus for me. What do you think? Did Zara do a good job of recreating the Alexander McQueen Boots? I vote yes....but I may have a biased opinion because I've already purchased them.

Threads of the Day: Risto Chunky Cable Knit Turtleneck Sweater

Chunky Cable Knit Turtleneck Sweater
I'm obsessed with the Fall and Winter...solely for the fashion. I actually don't really enjoy cold weather, but I love the way cable knit sweaters keep you warm. Let me tell you right now...I can't actually afford this sweater, because it's currently $671.00...but a girl can dream right? I am actually looking for a substitute, but I just can't seem to find anything like it. The search continues....

Rose Colored Glasses...

Rose Colored Glasses was the debut album by country music artist John Conlee. I actually don't listen to country music very often. However, a portion of the title of this post is called rose colored glasses, so I decided that it would only be fitting to pay homage to the original artist who coined the term.

This post is actually about these AMAZING Birkenstocks that I just purchased from Nordstrom. I was originally one of the negative critics. I just didn't understand why Birkenstocks and their replicas were making a comeback. In my opinion, everyone was looking at the "slippers" through rose-colored glasses. They jumped on the bandwagon and thought the shoes were cooler than they actually were....but I was WRONG! I purchased these babies a week ago, and now I have decided to tell everyone about them.

Probably the most comfortable pair of shoes that I have ever owned in my life. If you know me, then you know that I am all about comfort. I wear heels because It goes will with my favorite LBD...but I usually don't enjoy the high-heel experience. I'm also into 'All Gold Everything'....specifically Rose Gold. So seeing a pair of rose gold Birkenstocks in person made my day...I couldn't resist. I plan to keep them forever...or at least until they fall apart completely.

The Change Up

So I've decided that we should just write about whatever we want. Now hear me out...

Originally I posted the blog with a solitary goal in mind. The goal was to help our readers find affordable outfits in their closet and at their local department stores, boutiques, etc. Style should always be affordable and every human being deserves the opportunity to look their best at all times.

I still believe that style should always be affordable. That will never change.

But we need more people...and that is just the truth. We don't have a clientele just yet and our readers need to increase in order to cater to their needs. So we can still find affordable pieces but we can also explore other options.

So why not write about things that are of interest to us? If you haven't noticed already...our subtitle changed. We are mathematicians and engineers during the day...and fearless fashionistas (at least that is what we think)  who love visual arts, literature, and music as well. It's time to share our other passions.

We've been told that we don't look like mathematicians or engineers, which is ludicrous because human beings are multifaceted and complex. So I'm not sure why we don't fit the mold. Needless to say, this blog will give us and our growing audience a chance to talk about things other than algorithms. Mathematicians and Engineers are fun too.

We hope you enjoy what we enjoy.
